Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis will use Versius for cancerous and benign urological procedures
CMR Surgical (CMR or ‘the Company’) – the global surgical robotics business – has today announced the installation of the Versius surgical robot in Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis.
Located in Saint-Herblain near Nantes, Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis is a nationally and internationally renowned institution in the field of urology. The installation of Versius affirms the hospital’s commitment to strengthening its robotic surgery programme for the benefit of patients.
“Flexible and versatile, the Versius surgical robot has the advantage of combining performance with ease of learning,” explained Camilla Belbeoc’h, General Manager, Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis.
“Versius is the only small, modular and portable surgical robot on the market, making it easy for surgical teams to utilise. It can easily be moved between operating rooms to suit schedules and workflows. Because of its open console, Versius also helps to optimise communication during surgery. All these assets are beneficial to caregivers and patients alike.”
“Another significant advantage of CMR’s offering, was its flexible approach to financing, which has helped to standardise the costs of robotic-assisted surgery for our clinic.”
After completing CMR’s metrics-based training programme, the first surgeries with Versius have taken place, including prostatectomies, nephrectomies and cystectomies.
“Initial feedback has been excellent,” said Thierry Rousseau, President of the Medical Committee, Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis. “The performance of the system, both in terms of ergonomics and digital analysis of procedures will allow us to successfully and continuously pursue our mission to offer the best in surgery to our patients.”
Versius is part of a wider digital ecosystem that helps surgical teams to gather robotic telemetry data, procedural videos and the clinical context of a case within the CMR clinical registry. This offers surgeons and hospitals a wealth of information about their surgical practice. CMR is committed to working with healthcare partners across the French market to support continuous surgeons’ learning and drive greater efficiencies in the healthcare system.
Patricia Chesnais, General Manager, France and Benelux, CMR Surgical, commented: “We always design the installation of a new robot in a spirit of partnership, with the objective of improving the health of patients, in the service of public health. That is why we are delighted to work alongside the highly qualified teams at Clinique Urologique Nantes Atlantis to bring the benefits of minimal access surgery to more patients, thanks to Versius. This partnership, with such a centre of excellence in Europe, and among the leaders in its discipline in France, is an important step for CMR.”
Versius has now been used to perform more than 15,000 clinical cases across more than 130 surgical procedures in multiple surgical specialties. Clinique Urologique Nantes-Atlantis joins a number of leading hospitals across the world that have adopted the system, with more than 140 systems being used around the world, including at Royal Papworth NHS Foundation Trust, Policlinico di Milano and Sint-Franciscus Hospital in Belgium.
