Spotlight

I’m not your archetypal, driven entrepreneur—I’m a somewhat pragmatic person, although I am motivated by the knowledge that what we’re doing matters.

Alongside all the venture capital investments we make, we promote a lot of wider opportunities in the ecosystem and with good reason. The best and brightest from all over the world come to Cambridge and the entrepreneurs among them are driven to make the maximum impact and commercial value from whatever they’re doing. I see it as our job to support that process and in doing so enable them with the guidance and the financial support they need.

During my time in California I saw how in the USA they really embrace science, technology, engineering and ambition in a way that we weren’t getting in the UK; we were a lot more backward looking. That’s changed and I think to a degree we’re helping to sustain a different attitude toward technology here in Cambridge.
