Laurent Jespers

Laurent is an Entrepreneur in Residence with the Life Sciences team

Laurent brings 25 years’ of experience in discovery and early-stage clinical development of multiple therapeutic modalities and diseases areas.

Prior to joining CIC as an EIR in 2026, Laurent was Chief Scientific Officer at Xap Therapeutics, Vice President, Biopharmaceuticals and Cell & Gene Therapy, at GSK, and an early employee at Domantis Ltd (acquired by GSK). He is also a Senior Scientific Advisor of Econic Bio.

Laurent holds a MSc in Chemistry and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Leuven, Belgium. He is an alumni of the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology where he contributed to the development of antibody discovery technologies under the supervision of Sir Gregory Winter (Nobel 2018).
