London Stock Exchange 9 Jun 2025
Today, the London Stock Exchange welcomes CMR Surgical (CMR), the British-born global surgical robotics business, to participate in the market open ceremony in celebration of its recent funding round of more than $200m and its contribution to the UK’s manufacturing, technology and life sciences industry sectors.
Founded and headquartered in Cambridge, the heart of Britain’s scientific and technology ecosystem, CMR is the company behind Versius, a versatile, adaptable, and digitally driven surgical robotic system dedicated to transforming surgery for patients globally.
Versius is designed and manufactured in the UK. It is the second most utilised soft tissue surgical robot in the world and has been used to treat more than 30,000 patients globally across a broad range of specialities including colorectal, general, gynaecology, thoracic and urology.
CMR’s latest fundraise, led by all its major shareholders, supports the company in its mission to bring the benefits of minimal access surgery to more patients around the world by fuelling the continuous development of the Versius system and its expansion into the vastly underserved worldwide robotic assisted surgery market.
Massimiliano Colella, Chief Executive Officer of CMR commented: “We are honoured that the London Stock Exchange has chosen to feature CMR as a Great British scale-up success story and what better way to start London Tech Week than by celebrating British technology. As a MedTech company, CMR stands at the intersection of robotics, clinical excellence, and digital innovation. Our flagship platform, the Versius Surgical Robotic System, is a testament to how British-designed surgical robotics are shaping the future of minimal access surgery – not just in the UK, but worldwide.”
