SWIM.AI was founded in 2015 by a team of experienced entrepreneurs to develop edge intelligence software.
SWIM’s EDX solution combines local data processing, analytics and machine learning to deliver real-time business insights from “edge” devices.
The growth of the Internet of Things has led to a proliferation of edge devices such as sensors and monitors, that generate exponentially increasing amounts of data. The traditional IoT model of transmitting all this data to the cloud for storage and processing doesn’t scale. Instead, edge computing networks together these increasingly powerful devices on ‘the edge’ to collect and analyse data so business insights and control signals can be generated close to the data.
SWIM.AI is located in San Jose, California and Cambridge, UK. CIC led a $10 million Series B funding round in July 2018 to support SWIM’s expansion. SWIM is building a Cambridge AI R&D centre to take advantage of the expertise in deep technology within the Cambridge ecosystem.
