The Making the Difference Conference — created in partnership with the Cambridge Building Society, Cambridge Community Foundation, and Get Synergised — is coming to Cambridgeshire!

Making The Difference means finding new ways to help people have a home.

How? By thinking differently to help those who can’t afford to buy, and by working differently with community partners to improve access to shelter and housing.

As a member-owned mutual, our community has always been close to our hearts. After all, without the people of Cambridge, our Society simply wouldn’t exist.  That’s why we’re working hard to give back when we can… and Making The Difference is how we’re doing it.

We love the odd cake sale and fundraising event, but this isn’t about that kind of thing. It’s a long-term promise, using our skills and resources to truly change the lives of people who need our support. Now and in the future.

CIC’s Michelle Lamprecht will join the “Responsible Business: Creating Impactful Partnerships Between Business and their Community” panel.

The discussion will explore:

  • Why and how businesses are embracing social responsibility
  • The role of B Corp, ESG, and why these frameworks matter more than ever
  • How values-led partnerships can drive real value and meaningful social impact

In addition to this session, there will be a panel featuring the Cambridge Community Foundation, The Cambridge Pledge, Volunteer Cambs, and Get Synergised — this will focus on practical tools, strategies, and opportunities to help build impactful, long-term collaborations between businesses and communities.

The conference will bring together responsible business leaders, charities, community groups, and key change-makers to go beyond the “tick-box” and explore how to build authentic, long-term partnerships that focus on tangible impact — not just inputs.
