CMR Surgical (CMR) – the global surgical robotics business – and KEBOMED – one of Europe’s leading distributors of specialist medical devices – have today announced an agreement to expand their existing partnership to bring the next-generation Surgical Robotic System, Versius, to more hospitals in Sweden.

Henrik Schjødt, CEO and Head of the Board at KEBOMED Nordics commented: “The Nordic countries are global leaders in the responsible introduction of healthcare technology, with a high bar for quality and cost-effectiveness. We are thrilled to be expanding our existing partnership with CMR Surgical to bring Versius to Sweden and believe Versius will offer all surgeons and hospitals the opportunity to transform how surgery is performed across the country.”

Susanne Lehnberg, Business Manager North Europe at CMR Surgical added: “This is an exciting step forward for CMR as we continue to our path forward to make the benefits of robotic-assisted surgery more widely accessible to patients, with Versius serving as an important tool to make this a reality for patients across the region. We look forward to leveraging KEBOMED’s unique expertise to partner with more hospitals, surgeons and surgical teams across Sweden to bring our highly versatile and digital solution to more operating rooms.”

In Sweden, Versius was first introduced at Norra Älvsborgs Sjukhus (NÄL), a public hospital and part of NU-hospital group. At Norra Älvsborgs hospital, Versius is being used as part of a multispecialty robotic surgery programme including general surgery and gynaecology surgery enabling more patients to benefit from robotic-assisted minimal access surgery. Over 29,000 surgical cases have now been completed using Versius globally, as CMR Surgical continues to bring the next-generation surgical robotic system to surgeons around the world.
