GeoSpock appoints Richard Baker as Chief Executive Officer

Cambridge Innovation Capital plc (CIC), a Cambridge-based builder of technology and healthcare companies, announces that it has led a further funding round from existing and new investors in GeoSpock, the extreme-scale data real-time analytics company, to expand the commercial and technical capabilities of the GeoSpock team.  Japanese venture investor Global Brain Corporation has joined the investor group at this funding round.

Since CIC made its initial investment in 2015, GeoSpock has made good progress in developing its technology in preparation for commercialisation.  GeoSpock has created a suite of products which allow companies to access, index, analyse and visualise billions of rows of data in an easy-to-use web interface.  Potential customers for their existing product suite include location aware mobile advertising companies, telecommunications providers and the hyper-connected smart cities of the future.

GeoSpock has also announced that Richard Baker has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer.  Dr Steve Marsh, founder, will transition to the role of Chief Technology Officer, remaining on the Board, and will lead research, development and engineering and will also provide strategic guidance for the company.

Richard brings extensive blue chip and start up experience combined with proven leadership having held commercial senior executive and board roles in telecoms, technology, media and financial services companies. Most recently, Richard was the co-founder and CEO of Cleartrade Exchange (CLTX) a fintech commodity futures exchange, headquartered in Singapore, that was sold to the European Energy Exchange, part of Deutsche Börse Group, in 2016.
